About Erin K.
Erin K. Copeland earned her law degree from South Texas College of Law in 2000 after completing a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Houston in 1997. Her academic path placed her in Houston during a period of steady expansion in local civil and appellate practice. The years in school set the foundation for courtroom work at both trial and appellate levels.
She is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, the Fifth Circuit, and in state courts in Texas and Missouri. Those admissions reflect an ability to handle matters that extend beyond a single courtroom. Copeland’s career has included litigation in state and federal venues, and she regularly appears in proceedings that require both trial preparation and appellate briefing.
Copeland maintains memberships in a range of legal organizations. She is active in the American Association for Justice, serving on the Board of Governors and participating in the National Finance Committee and the Litigation Group Coordination Committee. She also belongs to the American Bar Association, the Texas Trial Lawyers Association, the Houston Trial Lawyers Association, and the State Bar of Missouri. Locally, she is a member of the Houston Bar Association and the Houston Young Lawyers Association. Her involvement with the Association of Women Lawyers and Texas Women Rainmakers signals engagement with groups that support women in the profession. She is also associated with the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts.
Her practice has required both courtroom presence and coalition work among counsel. She handles litigation strategy, drafting for complex motions and appeals, and preparation for contested hearings. Colleagues describe her as comfortable moving between brief-writing and oral argument. Her work with national and state bar committees has added administrative and governance experience to her litigation practice.
Copeland practices at Fibich, Leebron, Copeland & Briggs. There she works with teams on matters that involve detailed factual development, witness preparation and trial advocacy. Her admissions to higher courts permit her to take cases into appellate stages when clients need that level of review.
Outside the courtroom she participates in bar committees and professional groups that shape litigation practice and support continuing legal education. She continues to represent clients in state and federal courts and in appellate matters at the circuit and Supreme Court levels. Her current practice concentrates on trial and appellate litigation at Fibich, Leebron, Copeland & Briggs.
