About Erik M.

Erik M. Aanestad built a steady path into trust and estate law. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Arizona in 1997 and later took up legal studies, receiving his J.D. from Florida Coastal School of Law in 2007. Those academic steps set the stage for a practice that crosses state lines.

After law school he gained admission to practice in Nevada and later added California to his jurisdictions. He has been a member of the State Bar of Nevada since 2007. Over time he developed a practice centered on estate planning, probate matters and trust administration.

In 2015 he founded Aanestad Law. The firm is presented as Aanestad Law, A Trust & Estate Planning Firm and he serves as a founding partner. Under his leadership the firm has focused on advising individuals and families on wills, trusts and the mechanics of transferring assets after death.

Aanestad has participated in professional groups that reflect his practice area. He holds memberships in ElderCounsel and WealthCounsel, organizations that serve practitioners who work on estate and elder law issues. He is also part of the Gold Country Estate Planning Council and the Nevada County Bar Association. Outside legal circles he joined the Rotary Club of Grass Valley in 2016.

Colleagues describe his work as methodical and client-oriented. He spends time explaining options to clients, reviewing documents and guiding executors and trustees through procedural steps. Cases tend to be practical rather than headline-grabbing. Most involve drafting estate documents, advising on probate filings or managing trust administrations.

His practice draws on knowledge of both Nevada and California law. That dual jurisdiction perspective matters for clients with property or family ties that cross state lines. He also networks with other professionals—financial planners and tax advisors—to coordinate aspects of estate plans that touch on investments and tax implications.

Aanestad remains active in local and legal communities. He maintains memberships in professional groups that meet and exchange resources, and he participates in civic activities through Rotary. He keeps a steady caseload and continues to refine procedures for handling estates and trusts.

He currently concentrates his practice on trust and estate planning.
