About Erica Christine
Erica Christine Colon earned her Juris Doctor from Syracuse University College of Law in 2013. She completed a demanding course of study at Syracuse that combined classroom work with experiential learning opportunities. The diploma marked the end of a formal phase of training and the start of a professional life in the law.
Colon is licensed to practice in New York. That credential has informed the arc of her career and determined the jurisdictional scope of her work. Over the years she has navigated New York’s court system and regulatory environment while developing the procedural and analytical skills required of a practicing attorney.
Her day-to-day legal work has included the kinds of tasks common to many lawyers: counseling clients, preparing legal documents, managing case files, and appearing before tribunals when necessary. She has handled legal research and written briefs. She has negotiated on behalf of clients and worked with opposing counsel to resolve disputes outside the courtroom when that avenue has been appropriate.
Colon’s approach to practice balances attention to detail with the ability to see the larger legal picture. She pays close attention to statutes, case law, and procedural rules. At the same time she evaluates how legal issues affect clients’ goals and practical outcomes. That combination of technical knowledge and practical judgment informs how she sets priorities and allocates resources in a matter.
Throughout her career she has continued to engage with developments in New York law. Staying current on changes in case precedent and legislative activity is part of how she advises clients and frames legal strategies. She also draws on professional networks and resources to ensure that advice reflects contemporary practice and relevant local considerations.
Currently, Colon practices law in New York. She maintains an active presence in the state’s legal community and continues to represent clients under New York law.
