About Eric Vincent

Eric Vincent Wood earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of California, Berkeley in 1987. He returned to law study later and received his J.D. from John F. Kennedy University in 2013. Those two degrees bookend a long professional life that moves from business education to legal practice.

After law school he quickly set up his own practice. In 2014 he opened the Law Offices of E. Vincent Wood and has served as its owner since then. Running his own firm allowed him to shape the practice and choose the matters he would handle. He has led the firm through the regulatory and market changes that have affected consumer credit and insolvency work during the 2010s and 2020s.

Wood has taken on professional roles beyond his office doors. Since 2015 he has served on the Board of Directors for the Bankruptcy Section of the Contra Costa County Bar Association. That position puts him in regular contact with other local practitioners and judges. It keeps him involved in policy discussions, continuing education programs, and local bankruptcy issues.

His day-to-day practice centers on bankruptcy and debt-relief matters. He represents individual debtors and businesses in insolvency proceedings, handles negotiations with creditors, and appears in bankruptcy court when contested matters arise. Clients come to him for filing guidance, restructuring options, and the procedural steps needed to resolve claims and discharge obligations.

Wood operates a multi-office practice based in the East Bay. The firm maintains offices in Antioch, Oakland, Richmond, Fremont, Dublin, and Walnut Creek. Those locations reflect a regional approach aimed at serving residents and small businesses across Contra Costa and neighboring counties. He staffs the offices to provide local access to consultations and court-preparation work.

Colleagues describe his approach to cases as practical and procedural. He emphasizes clear explanation of options to clients and steadiness in court. He regularly engages in the administrative and educational aspects of the local bar through the bankruptcy section, where he contributes to panels and discussions about practice developments.

After more than a decade at the helm of his firm, Wood continues to manage client matters, mentor staff, and participate in the local bankruptcy community. His current practice focuses on bankruptcy and debt-relief matters.
