About Eric

In the small conference rooms where family disputes are sorted, practical choices meet sharp emotions. Eric Rice has built a practice around those moments. He approaches each case with attention to detail and an eye for the procedural steps that determine outcomes in family court.

He earned his J.D. in 2011 from Chapman University Fowler School of Law, where his studies emphasized family law. Law school training shaped his early understanding of family court procedures, evidence rules and the statutory framework that governs divorce and child custody in California.

Licensed to practice in California, Rice has spent his career working in the state’s family courts. Since earning his degree he has represented clients across a range of domestic relations matters. He is familiar with local court settings and the scheduling realities that affect case timelines.

His work covers core family law areas: divorce, child custody and visitation, child and spousal support, and property division. He handles cases that resolve by negotiated settlement and those that require contested hearings. Rice prepares pleadings, represents clients at settlement conferences and takes testimony at hearings when disputes cannot be resolved short of a trial.

Clients encounter him at different stages of a case. Some come when they need immediate protective orders. Others arrive looking for long-term solutions to custody and support. He works with experts when financial or custody disputes require valuation or specialized testimony. He also engages in the pre-filing and discovery process that often shapes what the court will ultimately decide.

Outside the courtroom he spends time explaining options and outlining likely next steps. He seeks to translate technical procedures into plain terms so clients know what to expect at each stage. Negotiation receives careful preparation, and trial readiness is part of his routine when settlement proves elusive.

Rice practices at Rice & Rice, Lawyers at Law. He represents individuals in family law matters and continues to litigate and negotiate cases in California courts.
