About Eric H.
Eric H. Barker earned his J.D. from the University of Florida in 1992. He began building practical experience while still in law school, serving as a certified legal intern for the Office of the Public Defender in Gainesville in 1991 and for Springfield and Gunson, P.A. in 1992. Those early placements exposed him to courtroom procedure and client work at the outset of his legal career.
After graduation he moved into private practice and public defense. In 1992 he worked as a lawyer at Christian and Associates and the following year returned to the Office of the Public Defender as a lawyer. Those positions placed him on both sides of criminal representation, giving him direct experience in pretrial preparation, hearings and trial settings. The work reinforced an interest in trial advocacy and the mechanics of criminal litigation.
In 1999 he joined NeJame Law as a partner. Over the years he has handled a range of matters that reach into trial litigation. His courtroom background traces back to the internships and public defense work that marked his earliest years as an attorney. He has remained active in cases that require motion practice, negotiated resolutions and, when needed, trials before judges and juries.
Barker maintains memberships in several professional organizations. He is active in the Orange County Bar Association and the Central Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He is listed with the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers since 2006 and the National Trial Lawyers since 2013. He also holds membership in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida dating to 1992 and is associated with the Florida Supreme Court bar. His professional affiliations reflect sustained engagement with Florida’s legal community and the criminal defense bar.
He practices in Florida and has spent much of his career on criminal defense and trial work. At NeJame Law he continues to take cases that involve contested hearings and jury trials, combining courtroom experience with long-standing ties to the central Florida legal community. He currently concentrates his practice on criminal defense in Florida at NeJame Law.
