Eric D. Shevin is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 1992. His license is currently in active status. Mr. Shevin is the founder of Shevin Law Group, a law firm located in Sherman Oaks, California. He has been practicing law for over 33 years, serving clients throughout California and other states.
Mr. Shevin earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1992. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at San Diego State University, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Finance in 1989. During his time at San Diego State University, he served as President of the Financial Management Association's National Honor Society, reflecting outstanding academic achievement in the area of Business Finance.
Mr. Shevin concentrates his practice in the areas of criminal defense and cannabis law. He represents individuals and businesses in matters involving drug crimes, DUI/DWI, juvenile law, and various other criminal offenses. His practice encompasses all stages of litigation, including initial case evaluation, discovery, mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial proceedings in both state and federal courts. Additionally, he provides counsel to lawful cannabis cultivators, processors, distributors, dispensary and delivery outlets on issues involving legal structure, business formation, tax reporting, and compliant business operations.
Throughout his career, Mr. Shevin has handled cases in the Superior Court of California for the County of Los Angeles, the United States District Court for the Central District of California, the United States District Court for the Southern District of California, the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California. He has also appeared before the United States Supreme Court. Prior to founding his own firm, he worked as an associate at a mid-size litigation firm in Century City for five years.
Mr. Shevin is an active member of the California Attorneys for Criminal Justice and the Criminal Courts Bar Association. He is a lifetime member of the NORML Legal Committee, dedicated to the reform of marijuana laws. He has been recognized as a "Super Lawyer" in California since 2004, representing the top 5% of all attorneys. He was awarded the Defender of Justice Award by California’s advocacy group, Americans for Safe Access. Mr. Shevin is fluent in English and Spanish, allowing him to serve the diverse communities of California effectively.
