About Eric D.

Eric D. Mackey-Fitzgerald earned his J.D. from Trinity Law School in 2009. He arrived in the legal field with classroom training and a drive to understand how law works in practice. The degree anchored a career spent largely in California courts and law offices.

Early in his career he served as a clerk and personal assistant at the Law Office of Joanna T. Vogel in 2011. That role placed him inside a functioning practice and gave him day-to-day exposure to case preparation, client contacts and the administrative side of litigation. It was a formative stop that preceded his move into direct client representation.

By 2013 he was listed as a divorce lawyer under the Law Office of Eric D. Mackey-Fitzgerald. He has since handled matters arising out of marital dissolution. His caseload has included contested and uncontested divorces and the issues that commonly follow: child custody and visitation, spousal and child support, and the division of community property. He represents clients in negotiation, settlement discussions and in court when proceedings require litigation.

Alongside practice, he joined Trinity Law School as an adjunct professor. Teaching has allowed him to bring practical examples into the classroom and to work with law students preparing for practice. Students and colleagues have noted his willingness to discuss the daily demands of running a law office and of representing families in transition.

Mackey-Fitzgerald’s practice is based in California and reflects the procedural and substantive contours of that state’s family law system. He has managed docket deadlines, attended hearings, and prepared pleadings that follow local rules. His work requires balancing clients’ emotional concerns with legal strategy. He often must move between document work, negotiation and oral advocacy on any given day.

Outside a courtroom summary, his resume shows continuity: law school, clerkship, private practice and teaching. That sequence describes a hands-on path into family law practice. It also explains the dual interest in educating future lawyers and serving clients now.

He maintains a private law office in California and concentrates on divorce and family law matters.
