About Eric
Eric Backstrom practices law in northwest Arkansas. He works out of Springdale, where he is part of Martin Lawyers, P.A., and maintains his practice under Arkansas jurisdiction. He is a member of the local legal community who moved into civilian practice after a period of military service.
He studied political science at Arizona State University and earned a B.A. in 2005. He then attended Regent University School of Law, receiving his J.D. in 2008. Those years framed his early interests in public service and dispute resolution.
After law school, he served in the U.S. Air Force as a judge advocate in 2008. That period gave him direct legal experience in a structured and high-demand environment. His work as a JAG involved representing clients within the military justice system and advising commanders on legal matters.
Following his military service, Backstrom transitioned to private practice in Arkansas. At Martin Lawyers, P.A., he handles a range of matters for clients in state courts. He applies courtroom experience and case preparation skills developed during his earlier service to everyday legal problems presented by individuals and organizations in the region.
Colleagues describe him as steady in the courtroom and straightforward with clients. He favors clear explanations over legal jargon and prepares cases with attention to procedure and fact. That approach helps clients understand options and possible outcomes without overstating what the law can do for them.
Outside casework, Backstrom’s education and early career continue to inform how he handles disputes. His background in political science gives a sense of the broader context in which many disputes arise. His J.D. work and time in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps supply a foundation in litigation and legal counseling.
He remains based in Springdale and is active in matters across Arkansas. He currently practices at Martin Lawyers, P.A., handling legal matters in Arkansas.
