About Emre

Emre Polat built a practice that crosses state lines and courtrooms. He works in the contested space where employment law meets litigation. Colleagues describe him as methodical; opposing counsel note a readiness to take cases to trial and appeal.

Polat took his first formal legal steps at Seton Hall University, earning a B.A. in 2007. He then attended the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University, receiving his J.D. in 2010. Those years framed his interest in workplace law and shaped the litigation skills he uses today.

After law school Polat began handling employment matters in the New York–New Jersey corridor. Over time he has appeared in state and federal forums and pursued matters through trial and appellate work. He holds admissions that allow him to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, the State of New Jersey and the State of New York. He has taken cases into federal district courts, argued contested motions, and litigated employment disputes that required hands-on courtroom time.

His practice centers on disputes between employers and employees. He represents workers in claims involving discrimination, retaliation, wrongful termination, wage-and-hour issues and contract-related disputes. He also handles severance negotiations and employment contract questions that lead to litigation. When matters require appellate review, Polat has taken those steps in the federal and state systems where he is admitted.

Polat remains active in professional groups that mirror the geographic scope of his work. He holds memberships in the New York State Bar Association, the New Jersey State Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. He is also a member of the National Employment Law Association and the New York State Trial Lawyers Association. Those affiliations supply continuing legal education and a platform for conversations about trends in workplace law.

Clients and peers say Polat prefers clear legal strategy over broad promises. He assesses risk and frames objectives in practical terms. He prepares cases for trial when settlement talks do not resolve the dispute and pursues appeals when the record supports them. He runs Emre Polat Employment Lawyers, where he represents employees in employment disputes.
