About Emily E.
Emily E. Scott grew up interested in how places are planned and how communities work. That interest led her to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she studied urban and regional planning and completed a bachelor’s degree. She followed that with legal training at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, earning her law degree and moving into practice in Illinois.
Her career has been rooted in the St. Clair County and East St. Louis legal communities. She holds memberships in the St. Clair County Bar Association and the East St. Louis Bar Association, both of which she joined in 2006. She also joined CREW (Commercial Real Estate Women) in 2018 and remains active there. Those local and sector ties shape the rhythms of her work and her professional network.
Scott has formal training in mediation. She completed a 40-hour civil and divorce mediation training under Marta Papa, J.D. That credential complements courtroom experience and gives her an option to help parties resolve disputes outside of trial. It also informs how she approaches negotiations and client counseling in civil matters.
Over the years she has handled matters that require attention to both legal detail and practical outcomes. Her practice sits at the intersection of civil practice, dispute resolution, and issues that touch on property and planning. Clients encounter her work when matters benefit from careful case evaluation, negotiation, and, where appropriate, structured mediation.
At Scott & Fiello Schwartz, LLC she is part of a firm that serves local individuals and businesses. The office places an emphasis on addressing disputes and transactional issues that arise in the region. Scott’s memberships in local bar organizations and in CREW underscore an ongoing engagement with both the legal community and commercial real estate professionals.
Her professional path reflects a combination of planning background, legal training, and mediation certification. She is licensed to practice in Illinois and is currently practicing at Scott & Fiello Schwartz, LLC, where her work centers on mediation and civil matters, including issues connected to real estate and local court practice.
