About Emily Connor

Emily Connor Kennedy earned her law degree from the University of Richmond School of Law in 2012 after completing undergraduate studies at Wofford College in 2008. Her academic record combined liberal arts and legal training, and she entered the profession at a time when appellate courts were contending with shifts in federal jurisprudence. The classroom years shaped how she approaches problems now: methodically, and with attention to statute and precedent.

Her legal career has been anchored in Virginia. She is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia and to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. Those admissions allow her to work on matters that begin in state courts and, where appropriate, proceed to federal appellate review. She has developed practical familiarity with appellate procedure and the cadence of briefing and argument that federal appeals require.

Colleagues describe her work as detail-oriented and text-driven. She spends substantial time on legal research and written advocacy. That emphasis shows in the way she prepares filings and frames legal issues. She approaches cases by isolating the central legal questions and then building a concise narrative for judges and opposing counsel.

Her practice involves drafting dispositive motions, appellate briefs, and other court filings that depend on precise citation and clear analysis. In court, she presents arguments grounded in statutory interpretation and case law. Her courtroom appearances reflect a careful preparation style: she anticipates opposing points and prepares responses that rely on core legal authority rather than rhetorical flourish.

Outside the courtroom she contributes to case strategy and client counseling. Clients who work with her can expect thorough case assessments and clear explanations of appellate timelines and procedural hurdles. She balances the technical demands of appellate practice with an eye toward practical outcomes for those she represents.

As an attorney admitted in Virginia and before the Fourth Circuit, she continues to handle matters that may move through state court proceedings and into federal appellate review. Her current practice focuses on Virginia litigation and representation in appeals before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
