About Emilio De
Emilio De Simone combines an engineering past with legal training. He earned a B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder in 1996. Years later he returned to school and completed a J.D. at the University of Denver in 2011. The two degrees steer his work. Technical subjects and scientific evidence are familiar terrain for him.
After law school he entered practice in Colorado. He holds membership in the State Bar of Colorado and maintains standing in the state where he practices. His professional affiliations include the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar, the National College for DUI Defense, the DUI Defense Lawyers Association and the Denver Bar Association. Those memberships reflect the practical path his career has taken: criminal and DUI defense work at the state level.
Training outside the standard curriculum has shaped the way he handles cases. He completed the National College for DUI Defense’s Summer Session Curriculum for DUI Defense, a program that focuses on techniques and law specific to DUI matters. He also completed the Lawyer Scientist program through the American Chemical Society. That training provides additional familiarity with chemical and forensic issues that commonly arise in impaired-driving prosecutions.
The blend of engineering education, scientific training and courtroom practice yields a particular approach to evidence. He tends to examine technical reports, lab findings and procedure-related records closely. He also spends time on procedural details. Those areas often determine whether scientific results are reliable enough to carry the prosecution’s case.
De Simone works out of multiple offices across the Denver metropolitan area and northern Colorado. He has a presence in Longmont, Denver and Aurora. That geographic spread lets him appear in different county courts when necessary and stay accessible to clients across the region.
Colleagues and opposing counsel encounter an attorney who is as comfortable questioning laboratory methodology as he is arguing statutory issues in court. He participates in professional groups that concentrate on DUI and criminal defense, and he pursues continuing education in both legal and scientific subjects. His practice in Colorado centers on criminal defense and DUI matters, where he applies his combined legal and technical training to case preparation and courtroom work.
