About Ellis
Ellis Forest took a nontraditional route to law. He began his college studies at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 1995 and earned a B.A. in Communication Studies in 1999. Years later he returned to academics, enrolling at the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2012 and completing his J.D. in 2015. Those two phases of study left him with different skill sets: an ability to communicate clearly and the legal training to apply that talent in a courtroom or at the negotiating table.
After law school, Forest entered practice in South Carolina. He is licensed to practice in that state and has built a career centered on property law. Colleagues describe him as deliberate and practical in his work. He prefers careful preparation and clear explanations over theatrical courtroom tactics. That approach has suited the transactional and client-facing nature of real estate matters.
Forest holds current memberships in professional associations. He uses those connections to stay current on state and federal developments that affect property owners, developers, and lenders. He attends continuing legal education programs and industry events. He also draws on his undergraduate background in communication when counseling clients, writing contracts, or resolving title questions.
At MGC Real Estate, Forest handles a range of matters related to property. His day-to-day work includes reviewing and drafting documents, negotiating terms, and coordinating with surveyors, lenders, and title companies. He works for a mix of individual and business clients. The files he manages often require attention to detail and the ability to move transactions forward on tight schedules.
Forest's practice reflects a steady, process-oriented style. He approaches each engagement by identifying practical risks and by outlining sensible steps to mitigate them. He is not a litigator by temperament, though he has been involved in disputes that required formal resolution. When issues escalate, he works with litigation colleagues as needed to protect client interests.
Outside the office he balances professional commitments with time for local community activities. He has kept ties to alumni networks from both of his schools and participates in events that connect real estate professionals and attorneys. In his current practice he focuses on real estate matters at MGC Real Estate, handling property transactions and related legal issues.
