Elizabeth P. Swiller is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. She was admitted to the California State Bar in 2004. Her license is currently in active status. Ms. Swiller is a founding partner at Tot Law, APC, a law firm dedicated exclusively to children's legal issues, located in San Diego, California. She has been practicing law for over 22 years, serving clients throughout San Diego County and the broader Southern California region.
Ms. Swiller earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco, where she was a member of the Constitutional Law Review journal and received a Witkin Award for her work in Animal Law. Prior to law school, she completed her undergraduate education at the University of San Diego, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in Political Science and Philosophy. She also holds an Associate's degree in Paralegal Studies from Sweetwater High School.
Ms. Swiller concentrates her practice in family law, focusing on child and family well-being matters, including Child and Family Well-Being (CFWB) cases, formerly known as Child Protective Services (CPS) cases, juvenile dependency matters, guardianships, adoptions, and child-focused family law issues. She represents parents, relatives, foster parents, and caregivers in these areas, providing guidance through all stages of legal proceedings, from initial investigations to trials and appeals. Ms. Swiller is bilingual in English and Spanish, enabling her to effectively serve a diverse clientele.
Throughout her career, Ms. Swiller has handled cases in various courts, including the Superior Court of California for the County of San Diego and the United States District Court for the Southern District of California. She has also appeared before the California Court of Appeal. Prior to founding Tot Law, APC, she worked as an associate attorney for a Certified Family Law Specialist, advocating for clients in and out of the courtroom. In 2007, she co-founded Jazo & Swiller, LLC, which later merged with Tot Law, APC, to offer comprehensive services in child and family law matters.
Ms. Swiller is an active member of the San Diego County Bar Association, serving as an elected Member At Large for the Family Law Section. She is also a committee member for the San Diego County Bar Lawyer Referral Service. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Paul A. Swiller, and their three children and two dogs.
