About Elizabeth M.
Elizabeth M. Malone earned her bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University in 1980 and continued her legal education at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, where she received her J.D. in 1983. She also attended Michigan State University College of Law. Those years laid a foundation in both legal theory and practical courtroom skills that would shape a long career in litigation.
After law school, Malone entered private practice. Her résumé includes work at Driggers, Schultz & Herbst and periods of association with Secrest Wardle. Over the decades she has litigated in state and federal forums, building experience in matters that reach beyond a single courthouse. She is authorized to appear before the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, and she is licensed to practice in Michigan.
Malone has maintained steady ties to professional organizations. She has been a member of the Defense Research Institute since 2007 and joined the Oakland County Bar Association in 2009. Records also note a long-standing membership that dates to 1983. Those affiliations have kept her connected to developments in civil litigation and defense practice, and they have provided regular contact with peers across multiple jurisdictions.
Colleagues describe her approach in pragmatic terms: methodical preparation, attention to procedural detail and an emphasis on courtroom readiness. She has handled motions, discovery disputes and trials in both federal and state settings. Her courtroom appearances have required familiarity with the rules and practices unique to the Sixth Circuit and to the Eastern District of Michigan. She balances motion practice with trial work and pretrial strategy.
Outside of litigation, Malone has participated in firm-level matters and client counseling that support case development. Her background includes work on briefs, oral argument and managing case teams. She has been involved in the practical aspects of running matters from intake through resolution, and has overseen discovery strategies and expert retention when cases required it.
She continues to practice law in Michigan, representing clients in state and federal courts and handling litigation matters that require admission to the Sixth Circuit and the Eastern District of Michigan. Her current practice focuses on courtroom advocacy and litigation in both state and federal venues.
