About Elizabeth Clare
Elizabeth Clare Surin earned her law degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1994 after completing her undergraduate studies at Wellesley College in 1990. She is based in Philadelphia and trained at two respected institutions on the East Coast. Her education laid a foundation for a career that crosses employment and immigration law.
Her early legal work began in private firms. In 1997 she joined Hoyle Morris & Kerr as an associate. Two years later she moved to Drinker Biddle & Reath, LLP, where she worked as an employment and immigration lawyer. Those years in firm practice gave her exposure to both litigation and counseling roles on workplace and immigration matters.
In 2003 she helped found Morley Surin & Griffin, P.C., taking a step into firm leadership and firm management. Seven years later she reorganized and became a founding partner of Surin & Griffin, P.C. The move reflected a shift from associate roles to running a practice and shaping client service. She operates from a Philadelphia office and has spent much of her career serving businesses and individuals in that region.
Outside of casework she maintains ties to professional groups. She serves on the executive committee of the Philadelphia Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers’ Association. She also volunteers with the Pennsylvania Welcoming Center for New Pennsylvanians, engaging in community work related to immigration and resettlement. Those roles keep her connected to developments in immigration policy and local needs.
Her practice centers on employment and immigration law. She represents employers and employees in workplace disputes, handles immigration petitions and administrative matters, and counsels clients on compliance with relevant statutes and regulations. She has worked on both transactional and contentious matters and has experience in administrative proceedings.
Colleagues describe her as steady and pragmatic; clients have sought her help for practical solutions to complex regulatory issues. She continues to lead a firm that handles employment and immigration cases out of its Philadelphia office. Her current practice focuses on immigration and employment law in the Philadelphia area.
