About Elizabeth Ann
Elizabeth Ann Ritter earned her law degree in the early 1980s and has spent decades practicing in California. She completed her J.D. at Southwestern University School of Law in 1983. Since then she has maintained a career that includes work in both state and federal forums.
Her time at Southwestern coincided with a period of change in legal education and practice. She entered the bar shortly after graduation and began handling matters that required familiarity with California procedure as well as federal appellate rules. The classroom training translated quickly into courtroom experience and appellate briefing.
Over the years Ritter has appeared in proceedings before the Ninth Circuit and in various California courts. Those admissions shape the contours of her practice. Appearing in the Ninth Circuit requires attention to complex appellate rules and an ability to frame legal questions in crisp, written argument. California court work demands a different tact: closer interaction with fact development, discovery and trial-level procedures.
Her career has unfolded primarily in private practice. She has spent much of her time preparing briefs, arguing motions and advising clients on litigation strategy. The mix of trial-level and appellate work means she often moves between detailed factual records and higher-level legal issues. That balance is a regular feature of her professional life.
Ritter currently practices at Ritter & LeClere apc. The firm serves clients in matters that fall under state jurisdiction as well as those that may reach the federal appellate bench. Colleagues and clients encounter an attorney familiar with both the mechanics of California litigation and the procedures of the Ninth Circuit.
She remains active in litigation and appellate work in California and before the Ninth Circuit, and her current practice concentrates on matters brought in California state courts and on appeals argued to the federal appellate level.
