About Elizabeth A.
Elizabeth A. Thornsbury trained at the University of Kentucky. She completed a Bachelor of Arts in middle school education in 2011. Three years later she earned her J.D. from the University of Kentucky College of Law and entered the practice of law.
She began her legal career in 2014 as an associate at Mehr Fairbanks Trial Lawyers. The role came immediately after law school and placed her in a litigation environment early in her professional life. She worked alongside trial attorneys and took on responsibilities common to courtroom practice, including motions, discovery, and client interviews.
Licenses and admissions have defined the range of courts where she can appear. She is admitted in Kentucky and is also admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Kentucky, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Those admissions allow her to take cases at both the state and federal levels when matters require it.
Outside of casework, Thornsbury has maintained active ties to legal and community organizations. She holds membership in the Fayette County Bar Association and the Kentucky Bar Association. She also serves on the Citizen Foster Care Review Board, which reviews and monitors foster care cases in the community. Her volunteer activity extends to AmeriCorps Energy Express, a program focused on literacy and youth development.
