About Elizabeth A.

Elizabeth A. Kayatta arrived in courtrooms carrying degrees from Princeton and Boston College Law School. She earned an A.B. from Princeton University in 2008 and a J.D. from Boston College Law School in 2012. Those two schools laid the groundwork for a practice that spans two state bars and several professional associations.

Soon after law school, Kayatta entered private practice. Over the years she has handled civil litigation matters and represented clients in proceedings in both Massachusetts and Maine. She is admitted to practice in those two states and maintains active memberships in the Maine State Bar Association, the National Crime Victim Bar Association, and the American Association for Justice. Those memberships reflect the circles in which she works and the professional networks she draws on.

Her work sits at the intersection of civil litigation and victim representation. She appears on pleadings, prepares discovery, and handles pretrial motion practice. She spends time in court arguing motions and in conferences negotiating resolutions for clients. Colleagues describe her as methodical in case preparation and pragmatic when assessing settlement options.

At the firm level she practices at Berman & Simmons. The firm handles a range of civil matters and provides courtroom representation for clients across trial and appellate stages. Kayatta’s role has involved courtroom appearances, client counseling, and collaborative work with investigators and experts when cases require fact development or technical analysis.

Outside of litigation, Kayatta contributes to professional discussion through participation in the bar associations to which she belongs. Membership in the National Crime Victim Bar Association signals engagement with issues that affect victims of crime in civil contexts. Participation in the American Association for Justice connects her to a national community of plaintiff attorneys, while the Maine State Bar Association keeps her linked to local legal developments and rules of practice.

Her academic background informs how she approaches a file. The liberal arts training at Princeton is evident in detailed factual review. Legal training at Boston College Law School underpins her litigation technique. She combines those strands in case strategy and client communications.

As of 2026 Kayatta continues to practice at Berman & Simmons, representing clients in civil matters and working on cases that involve victims’ interests and related litigation. Her current practice focuses on civil litigation and representation of victims in related proceedings.
