About Ekecia

Ekecia Grayson studied psychology before turning to law. She began her higher education at Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University in 1998. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of South Florida in 2001 and a Juris Doctor from Florida State University College of Law in 2007. Those years set the stage for a career that moves between courtroom work, regulatory practice and private firm life.

Her early legal work included time as an associate at Clarke, Silverglate & Campbell, PA. That role introduced her to litigation and the practical demands of representing clients in contested matters. She later served as an assistant state lawyer in the Office of the State Lawyer for Florida’s Ninth Judicial Circuit, where she handled prosecutorial and advisory responsibilities inside the state system. The combination of private and public-sector roles broadened the range of matters she would take on.

Grayson also worked inside state government as an assistant general counsel at the Florida Office of Financial Regulation. There she dealt with regulatory questions that affect lenders, financial institutions and consumer protection enforcement. That period of her career deepened her understanding of the intersection between statutory rules and real-world financial practice.

Since moving into firm leadership she has been a partner at Grayson & Monroe, PLLC. The firm listing reflects her current professional base. Her memberships underline professional interests: she is an active member of The Florida Bar, the Tampa Bay Bankruptcy Bar Association, the National Bar Association and the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Lawyers. Those affiliations point to recurring themes in her work: bankruptcy, consumer law and issues tied to creditor-debtor relations.

Colleagues describe her approach as pragmatic. She works through documentation and procedure carefully. She appears in court when cases require it, and she negotiates settlements when a negotiated result better serves a client’s needs. Her background in state regulatory practice gives her particular perspective on matters that straddle litigation and compliance.

Her career shows movement between different parts of the legal system: private practice, trial-level state work and regulatory counsel. That mix informs how she evaluates cases and advises clients. She practices at Grayson & Monroe, PLLC, where her work focuses on consumer bankruptcy, creditor-debtor matters, and state financial regulation.
