About Eileen Marie

Eileen Marie Murphy trained first as a historian and artist, then turned to the law. She earned a B.A. in History and Art from Furman University in 2005 and completed her J.D. at Temple University Beasley School of Law in 2010. Those years set the stage for a practice that intersects courtroom work, client counseling and community service.

Her early legal career began in the Superior Court of New Jersey Trial Division – Atlantic County, where she served as a law clerk in 2010. The next year she joined Berner Klaw & Watson as a lawyer-law clerk and moved on in 2012 to the Law Offices of Michael E. Fingerman as an associate. She returned to Berner Klaw & Watson in 2017 and has been listed at that firm in subsequent roles. The path shows steady courtroom experience and repeated immersion in firm practice.

Murphy is licensed in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania. She handles matters in state courts and works with colleagues across the two jurisdictions. Her background in trial-court clerking early in her career informs her approach to litigation and case preparation.

She is an active participant in professional organizations, particularly those centered on family law. Within the Philadelphia Bar Association she holds multiple roles: Vice Chair, Executive Board member, Treasurer and Co-Chair of the Mentoring Committee for the Family Law Section. She also serves as the Family Law Section Liaison to the Young Lawyers Division on the Bar Association’s Executive Committee. Her leadership extends to The Nicholas A. Cipriani American Inn of Court, where she serves as Executive Board Secretary, and she maintains memberships in the American Bar Association and the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s family law groups.

Murphy pairs association work with volunteer service. She volunteers as a lawyer at the Philadelphia Family Court Help Center, the Philadelphia Volunteers for the Indigent Program and the Support Center for Child Advocates. Those roles point to hands-on involvement in family court matters and child advocacy outside of her firm work.

Her practice is centered at Berner Klaw & Watson LLP. She practices in New Jersey and Pennsylvania and focuses on family law matters, combining courtroom experience, bar leadership and volunteer work in her current practice focus.
