About Edra
Edra Pollin earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Denver in 1980. She entered the legal profession at a time of change in criminal defense practice. Her early training combined classroom work with hands-on exposure to courtroom procedures.
Pollin began her career in public defense. In 1980 she joined the Office of the Denver Public Defender as a deputy state public defender. There she represented clients charged in state criminal matters and handled a range of pretrial and courtroom responsibilities. That work provided steady courtroom time and regular contact with judges, prosecutors and clients.
Three years later she left the public defender’s office and opened a solo practice. In 1983 she established the Law Office of Edra J. Pollin. Running a small firm required her to move beyond advocacy alone. She managed client intake, case strategy, filings, and the business side of a legal office. The switch to solo practice changed the rhythm of her work. It also broadened the kinds of matters she accepted and how she worked with people facing legal problems.
Across both public and private practice, Pollin’s work has centered on criminal defense matters. She has experience guiding clients through arraignments, motions practice, plea negotiations and hearings. Her background at the public defender’s office informed how she approaches case preparation. She relied on courtroom procedure, evidence rules and local practice to shape defenses and to make practical decisions about case outcomes.
