About Edmundo

Edmundo Cuevas took a conventional path into law. He earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2006 and completed his J.D. at DePaul College of Law in 2010. Those years framed his legal education and laid the groundwork for work in consumer-oriented legal services.

After law school, Cuevas entered practice in Illinois. He is admitted to the Illinois bar and holds memberships in the Illinois State Bar, the Hispanic National Bar Association, and a local Hispanic lawyers’ group. His professional affiliations reflect an interest in both statewide practice and community-based legal networks.

Cuevas serves as an associate at DebtStoppers USA. In that role he works on matters that arise at the intersection of consumer finance and individual legal relief. His day-to-day work involves client counseling, document preparation, and negotiation. He spends time helping clients understand options available under federal and state law. He also handles routine procedural tasks that keep cases moving through administrative and negotiated channels.

Peers describe him as methodical and straightforward in client interactions. He favors plain language in meetings and written communications. That approach tends to help clients understand complicated financial statutes and contractual obligations. It also shapes his courtroom and negotiation posture: clear, practical, and oriented toward resolving discrete problems.

Cuevas’s background in Illinois law school and practice is reflected in how he approaches cases. He keeps current on changes affecting consumer debt and related regulatory matters. He also participates in professional gatherings through his bar memberships. Those meetings provide an informal forum for exchanging ideas and comparing approaches to common legal problems faced by consumers.

Outside of the office, Cuevas maintains connections to the Illinois legal community. Membership in the Hispanic National Bar Association and the Hispanic lawyers’ association suggests ongoing engagement with peers who share cultural and professional interests. These networks offer opportunities for mentorship and collaboration on matters of mutual concern.

He currently works as an associate at DebtStoppers USA, where his practice focuses on consumer debt matters.
