About Ed
Ed Hecht’s educational path crosses engineering, business and law. He earned a B.S. in Engineering from Boston University in 1987 and an MBA from Emory University in 1990. More than two decades after his undergraduate degree, he returned to school and received a J.D. from Georgia State University College of Law in 2012. The sequence of degrees gives a practical and methodical underpinning to his legal work.
He is a member of the Georgia State Bar and practices in Georgia. His professional affiliations include the North Fulton Bar Association, the Atlanta Bar Association and the American Bar Association’s Family Law Section. He also holds a membership in the Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce and volunteers with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Georgia.
Hecht leads Hecht Family Law as its managing lawyer. In that role he oversees day-to-day operations of the firm while representing clients in family law matters. Colleagues describe him as steady and detail-oriented in handling client files. He manages case strategy, client communications and the administrative side of a small practice.
His educational background in engineering and business informs how he approaches cases. He tends to break complex problems into manageable parts and examines financial and factual details closely. That orientation can affect how a case is prepared, whether through negotiation or courtroom work. He places emphasis on organizing information and setting clear expectations for clients as a matter of practice.
Beyond the office, Hecht participates in several professional organizations and civic groups. He maintains ties to bar associations in Atlanta and North Fulton, and he is active in the ABA’s Family Law Section. His volunteer work with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Georgia reflects involvement in community causes outside of law.
Hecht Family Law is based in the North Fulton area, where he serves individuals and families in family law matters. He continues to practice law in Georgia and manages the firm’s engagement with clients and local professional associations, maintaining a practice focused on family law matters.
