About E.J.
E.J. Hubbs earned a B.A. in psychology from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 2005 and a J.D. from the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law in 2008. Those years set the stage for a career built around courtroom work. He moved quickly from law school into positions that gave him exposure to both prosecution and defense.
His early legal experience included a judicial law clerkship at the Shelby County Courthouse in 2007. After receiving his law degree, he served as an assistant public defender in Hamilton County in 2008. He later took roles as an assistant state lawyer in Blount County and in Hillsborough County in 2010. Those roles provided trial experience on both sides of criminal matters and a steady stream of contested court appearances.
Hubbs is board certified in Criminal Trial Law by the Florida Bar. He is admitted to practice in Florida and before the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. That combination of credentials reflects time spent in front of juries and judges across trial courts and on appeal. His background includes repeated courtroom roles, which inform how he prepares cases and handles evidence at trial.
Outside of the courtroom he maintains memberships in several professional organizations. He is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the latter since 2015. He also holds memberships in Business Networking International and in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, both listed as active since 2015. These affiliations keep him connected to peers in criminal defense and the broader legal community.
Hubbs practices at Hubbs Law, P.A. He has experience working as both prosecutor and defense counsel, and as a public defender, which contributes to a practical perspective on criminal litigation. He concentrates his current practice on criminal defense and trial work.
