About Dustin R.
Dustin R. Crook entered law after a steady climb through midwestern classrooms and early public service. He earned a Bachelor of General Studies in psychology and business from the University of Kansas in 2005, then completed his J.D. at Washburn University School of Law in 2009. Those years set the foundation for a practice that crosses state lines.
His first legal role after law school was as a law clerk in 2010 for Bryan W. Smith, where routine research and drafting met real client problems. He moved into firm practice as an associate at Smith Law Office in 2012. That same year he became involved in local civic work, joining the Topeka Planning Commission. Those experiences offered early exposure to both courtroom procedure and municipal processes.
In 2015 he opened his own firm, practicing under the name Dustin Crook, Lawyer at Law, LLC. The next phase of his career came three years later when he became a partner at Biesterveld & Crook, LLC in 2018. The transition from solo practice to partnership widened the scope of his work and placed him in a collaborative firm environment.
Military service precedes his legal career. He served as a non-commissioned officer in the U.S. Army Reserve in 2002. That early service shaped a work ethic that appears in his later professional life.
Crook holds licenses in both Kansas and Missouri. He is a long-standing member of the Kansas Bar Association since 2011. He joined the Johnson County Bar Association in 2016 and the Missouri Association of Trial Lawyers in 2017. He has participated in the American Inns of Court movement as an associate member of the Earl E. O'Connor American Inns of Court since 2016, and he previously served as an associate in the Sam A. Crow American Inns of Court from 2012 to 2015. He was also affiliated with the Topeka Bar Association during that earlier span.
Colleagues describe his career path as steady and practical. He has moved between solo and firm practice, engaged in civic planning work, and maintained professional ties through bar groups and Inns of Court. Those ties keep him connected to trial procedure and local practice norms in two state systems.
He currently practices at Biesterveld & Crook, LLC and maintains an active practice in Kansas and Missouri, handling courtroom representation and civil matters.
