About Dustin J.
Dustin J. Richards built a foundation in business before he ever entered a courtroom. He completed a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at the University of Wyoming in 2002, then stayed on to earn a Master of Science in e.Business in 2003. He later returned to the same campus for his law degree, receiving a J.D. from the University of Wyoming College of Law in 2012.
Richards began his legal career the year he finished law school. He joined Pence and MacMillan LLC as an associate in 2012. That early stretch at the firm gave him steady exposure to day-to-day client work and firm practice. Over time he took on broader responsibilities and in 2020 he became a member of the firm, a role that expanded his involvement in firm management as well as case work.
He is admitted to practice in both Wyoming and Colorado. Those dual admissions allow him to handle matters that cross state lines and to advise clients whose operations span the Rocky Mountain region. Since 2012 he has also been active in the Albany County Bar Association, maintaining a local connection to the bench and bar where he lives and works.
Richards’s academic background in business and electronic commerce informs how he approaches legal problems. He brings an understanding of business structures and online operations to legal issues that affect companies and individual proprietors. That combination of business training and legal education shapes how he evaluates risk, negotiates agreements, and advises clients on operational choices.
Colleagues describe Richards as methodical in his preparation and direct in his courtroom and transactional work. He handles client matters that require steady analysis and clear communication. He has developed experience in areas that commonly intersect with business law, drawing on both his graduate study in e.Business and his law training to address modern commercial questions.
At Pence and MacMillan LLC Richards continues to serve clients across Wyoming and Colorado. He divides his time between client counseling and litigation-related tasks, and he remains engaged in local bar activities. He currently practices law at Pence and MacMillan LLC, working on business-related legal matters across Wyoming and Colorado.
