About Dustin E.

Dustin E. Nimz took a direct route into courtroom work. He earned a J.D. from Texas Tech University School of Law in 2007 and later completed an LL.M. in Trial Advocacy at Temple University Beasley School of Law. The advanced trial training shaped how he approaches evidence, witnesses and courtroom strategy.

Early in his career he concentrated on criminal matters. Over time he sought formal recognition of that work. He is Board Certified in Criminal Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, a credential that denotes peer review and testing in that area of practice. He also holds admission to practice in Texas and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

His involvement in the profession extends beyond individual cases. Since 2018 he has served as a director of the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. In that role he has participated in programming and governance aimed at supporting defense attorneys across the state. The position places him among practitioners who help shape continuing education and professional standards for criminal defense work in Texas.

Nimz has built a practice that relies on trial skills and courtroom preparation. The LL.M. in Trial Advocacy is reflected in how he prepares for hearings and trials. He handles matters that require familiarity with state criminal procedure and federal appellate rules. He represents clients in contested proceedings and pursues defenses through motions, trials and appellate filings when appropriate.

He practices from Nimz Law, PLLC. The office handles criminal defense matters in state courts and in matters that reach federal appellate review. Colleagues and opposing counsel characterize him as a lawyer who prefers direct engagement in the courtroom and who focuses on the practical steps needed to advance a client’s position.

Outside the courtroom he has maintained ties to legal education and to professional organizations that support defense lawyers in Texas. He continues to participate in association activities and professional programming. He currently practices criminal defense at Nimz Law, PLLC, representing clients in state and federal courts.
