About Dr. Michael J.
Dr. Michael J. Giordano trained in two demanding professions. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Biochemical Engineering from Columbia University (1982), an M.D. from New York University (1986), an M.B.A. from Yale University (2007) and a J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law (2014). Those degrees map a path from engineering and medicine into business and law.
Giordano spent the early portion of his career in clinical and military medicine. He served as a neurosurgeon at Portsmouth Naval Hospital in 2003 and held regimental and battalion surgeon posts through the 1990s and early 2000s, including assignments with the 2nd Battalion, 24th Marines in 1994 and the 25th Marine Regiment in 2003. He is board certified in neurosurgery and is a certified Navy diver.
His military medical service continued into senior operational roles. He was Group Surgeon for the 4th Marine Logistics Group in 2013, Battalion Surgeon for the 1st Battalion, 25th Marines in 2009 and served as Battalion Surgeon for the 2nd Battalion, 25th Marines in 2015. In 2016 he held the title of Force Surgeon for United States Marine Corps Forces Central Command. Those roles combined clinical care, operational planning and oversight of unit medical readiness.
Giordano's career moved toward the intersection of medicine and law over the last two decades. He worked as an in-house medico-legal consultant for Stratton Faxon Trial Lawyers, LLC in 2010 and later took on roles as a lawyer and medical expert for Faxon Law Group, LLC in 2014. He continued clinical work while developing legal credentials, serving as a neurosurgeon for Legal Medical Associates, LLC in 2017. In 2020 he began practicing with The Doctor Lawyer Team as both an attorney and physician.
His professional affiliations reflect dual identities. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (since 2003) and the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (since 2010). On the legal side he holds fellowship in the American College of Legal Medicine (since 2015) and maintains memberships in the American Bar Association, Connecticut Bar Association, New Haven County Bar Association and the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association. He has been active in those associations across the 2010s and into the 2020s.
Giordano is admitted to practice in Connecticut and before the U.S. Court of Federal Claims. He balances clinical experience, military medicine and legal training in his current work. He practices at The Doctor Lawyer Team, handling medico-legal matters and serving as both attorney and medical expert.
