About Douglas

Douglas Curran is an attorney admitted to practice in Illinois and New York. He graduated from Georgetown University in 2006 and earned his law degree from Duke University School of Law in 2009. Those academic years shaped a careful approach to analysis and a facility for complex legal writing.

After law school Curran entered private practice. Over time he developed experience working on matters that required appearances in state and federal courts in multiple jurisdictions. He has maintained professional memberships and remains active in bar and association activities relevant to his practice.

Curran is currently part of BraunHagey & Borden LLP. At the firm he handles representation of clients in proceedings arising in Illinois and New York. His work includes litigation and pretrial strategy, filing and responding to pleadings, and preparing cases for trial or resolution. He regularly appears in court and coordinates with colleagues when matters cross state lines.

Colleagues describe Curran as attentive to case details and methodical in preparing legal arguments. He applies the research and writing training from Duke Law to draft briefs and motions. His Georgetown undergraduate background provided a foundation for client communication and an interest in the policy dimensions that sometimes shape litigation.

Beyond courtroom work, Curran engages in client counseling. He meets with clients to identify priorities and to map realistic timelines for resolution. He balances advocacy in the courtroom with efforts to resolve disputes outside of litigation when that proves practicable for a client’s objectives.

Curran continues to participate in professional associations and remains involved in ongoing education to stay current on procedural developments and case law in both Illinois and New York. He maintains an active practice at BraunHagey & Borden LLP, representing clients in matters before state and federal courts in Illinois and New York.
