About Douglas

Douglas Candeub earned his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1982. He completed his legal education at a time when bankruptcy law was undergoing significant change. That early training shaped a practice that has remained centered on commercial insolvency and restructuring matters.

He is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and Delaware. Those admissions have allowed him to appear in state and federal matters across two neighboring jurisdictions. Over the years he has built a practice that engages with both contested litigation and transactional work tied to distressed businesses.

Candeub’s professional involvement extends beyond client files. He serves on the Business Bankruptcy Committee of the American Bar Association’s Business Law Section and holds membership in the American Bankruptcy Institute. He has been an active participant in the Delaware Bankruptcy Inns of Court, where he led a CLE program titled “The Art of Presentation” in May 2011 and headed other program sub-groups. He has also worked with the Eastern District of Pennsylvania Bankruptcy Conference, co-chairing preparations for topical seminar materials used at the annual conference. Locally, he is a member of the Philadelphia Bar Association.

Those roles reflect a practice that mixes courtroom work and continuing legal education. Colleagues and judges have encountered him in seminar settings where he has led discussions about advocacy and presentation in bankruptcy contexts. The CLE leadership in Delaware underscores a sustained interest in how counsel present complex issues to judges and juries.

On the case side, his files have included typical commercial bankruptcy matters: creditor representation, debtor counseling, plan negotiations and confirmation proceedings. He handles both adversary proceedings and business reorganizations, often working with trustees, committees and corporate debtors. He is equally involved in drafting pleadings and arguing contested motions as he is in advising clients on restructuring alternatives outside formal bankruptcy.

Candeub practices at Morris James LLP, where he is part of a team that handles bankruptcy and restructuring matters across the firm’s practice. He continues to participate in bar and bench education programs while representing clients in state and federal insolvency proceedings. He currently practices bankruptcy and restructuring law at Morris James LLP.
