Mr. Prutton earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Illinois College of Law, graduating cum laude in 1982. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at Michigan State University, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry with high honors in 1979. During his time at the University of Illinois, he developed a strong foundation in legal principles, which he later applied in his diverse legal career.
Mr. Prutton concentrates his practice in the areas of personal injury law and employment law. He represents individuals and employees in matters involving workplace discrimination, wrongful termination, wage and hour disputes, and premises liability claims. Throughout his career, Mr. Prutton has handled cases in the Superior Court of California for the County of Contra Costa, the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He has also appeared before the California Court of Appeal on multiple occasions. Prior to founding his own firm, he worked as an associate at Low, Ball & Lynch in San Francisco from 1984 to 1987, representing insurance companies and corporations. From 1982 to 1984, he practiced law with Baxter & Hammond in Grand Rapids, Michigan, representing similar interests.
Mr. Prutton is an active member of the State Bar of California and has been involved with the Contra Costa County Bar Association and the Alameda County Bar Association. He has also been a member of the Consumer Attorneys of California and the California Employment Lawyers Association. In his personal life, Mr. Prutton and his wife have raised three daughters in Contra Costa County. He enjoys playing guitar, writing songs, hiking, reading, and participating in sports such as basketball and softball. He manages the Bad Attitude softball team, which he has played for since 1985.
