About Donald J.
Donald J. Slaughter built a law practice that draws on a varied academic background and several court admissions. He earned a J.D. from the University of Tulsa College of Law in 2012. Before law school he completed an A.A. in liberal arts at Tulsa Community College and studied political science at Oklahoma State University–Tulsa. He also took coursework at Rogers State University earlier in his academic path.
After earning his law degree, Slaughter established himself in tribunals that include federal, state and tribal forums. He is admitted to practice before the Tenth Circuit and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Oklahoma. He is also admitted to the Oklahoma state bar and appears in the Muscogee (Creek Nation) Tribal Court. Those admissions allow him to handle matters that arise at several levels of the justice system.
His practice covers criminal defense work and matters tied to consumer credit and finance. He is a member of the Oklahoma Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, a group he joined in 2018. He also holds a Consumer Credit Compliance Certification from the National Automotive Finance Association. That credential complements his work on cases and compliance issues that touch on vehicle finance and related consumer-credit disputes.
Colleagues describe Slaughter as methodical in case preparation. He spends time in courtroom settings and in counseling clients about plea options, court procedures and potential defenses. He also assists clients navigating regulatory or contractual questions that involve consumer lending and the documentation that accompanies vehicle financing.
Slaughter established Slaughter Law as the office through which he offers representation and advice. He represents individuals in criminal proceedings and advises on consumer credit compliance matters across the admitted jurisdictions. The office handles appearances in federal and tribal forums as needed and works to coordinate strategy when cases cross jurisdictions.
His record shows continued engagement with professional groups that relate to criminal defense. He maintains his credentials in consumer credit compliance and appears in both state and federal courts as circumstances require. He currently practices at Slaughter Law and represents clients in criminal defense and consumer credit compliance matters.
