About Diana

Diana Maier graduated from Georgetown University in 1992 with a B.A. in Foreign Service and earned her J.D. from Stanford Law School in 1998. Her academic background combined international affairs and law, a pairing that would inform later work on cross-border privacy issues and regulatory compliance.

After law school she entered private practice in California. She went on to found Maier Law Group, where she serves as a founding partner. Over time her practice developed around regulatory matters and counseling for organizations that handle sensitive data. She has kept one foot in the practical side of client representation and the other in the evolving policy and regulatory landscape that affects how businesses collect and use personal information.

Maier holds both CIPP/US and CIPP/E certifications from the International Association of Privacy Professionals. Those credentials signal training in U.S. privacy laws and European data protection standards. She applies that training to advising on privacy program development, incident response planning, vendor agreements and compliance with evolving state and international rules.

Outside the office she maintains involvement in professional and civic networks. She is a member of Provisors, a referral and professional development organization. She also serves on the board of OneJustice, a nonprofit that works to expand access to legal services for underserved communities. Those roles reflect an interest in how legal institutions connect to broader community needs and professional networks.

Clients describe Maier as a practical adviser who prioritizes clear risk assessment and pragmatic policy solutions. Her work often touches on the intersection of technology and regulation, where statutory requirements, contractual terms and operational practices must align. She represents companies on compliance audits and advises on contractual protections and disclosure obligations.

Based in California, Maier continues to lead Maier Law Group. Her practice blends counseling, negotiation and discrete litigation support related to privacy, data protection and compliance matters. She currently focuses her practice on privacy, data protection and compliance for clients operating in California and beyond.
