About Dewitt

Dewitt Liu earned his law degree from Syracuse University in 2008 after completing undergraduate studies at the University of Minnesota–Twin Cities in 2003. His education combined a liberal arts foundation with three years of professional legal training. Those years set the groundwork for a career centered on property law and transactional work.

He is admitted to practice in both New York and New Jersey. That dual admission has allowed him to work on matters that cross state lines and to advise clients whose real estate needs extend beyond a single jurisdiction. He maintains a practice that reflects the regulatory and contractual realities of both markets.

Liu moved into real estate practice early in his legal career. In 2012 he began a role as a real estate lawyer at Liu Law. Since then, his work has concentrated on the practical tasks that drive property deals forward: drafting and negotiating purchase agreements, coordinating closings, and addressing title and lien issues. He handles the legal steps that follow a deal from contract to recording.

His transactions often involve coordination among multiple parties. Liu regularly works with lenders, title companies, surveyors and settlement agents to clear the path to a closing. He also drafts and reviews documents for refinancing, transfers, and commercially oriented deals. This day-to-day work demands attention to detail and an ability to anticipate common pitfalls so that transactions can proceed on schedule.

Clients describe him as methodical. He prefers clear communication and straightforward explanations of complex topics. That approach helps buyers and sellers understand timing, costs and the legal consequences of contract terms. For business clients, he outlines risks and drafting options so executives can make a practical decision.

Over the years Liu has balanced residential matters with commercial transactions. The mix gives him a sense of how local practices differ between individual home closings and larger business deals. He handles lease reviews and negotiations as part of that range, and he assists clients who need coordinated solutions across purchase, financing and title issues.

He practices from Liu Law Office, where he continues to work on transactions, title matters and closings for both private and commercial clients. His current practice focuses on residential and commercial real estate transactions, title and closing matters.
