About Devon M.
Devon M. Jacob moved from radio dispatch to the courtroom in a career that blends public safety experience and civil litigation. He began his public-safety work in the mid-1990s as a 911 dispatcher at Centre County 911 and then served as an officer with the State College Police Department. Those early years on the front lines shaped his view of the law and steered him toward a legal career.
He earned a Bachelor of Science in Administration of Justice from Pennsylvania State University, completing that degree in 1994. He later attended Widener University School of Law in Harrisburg and received his J.D. in 2002. The combination of practical emergency-services work and formal legal training informs the way he approaches fact investigation and case development.
Jacob entered public legal service after law school as a deputy at the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General in 2002. He then moved into private practice, joining Lavery Faherty Patterson in 2004 where he handled civil matters and built courtroom experience. In 2012 he served as head of a civil division at Boyle Litigation, overseeing litigation strategy and case management. The following year he opened his own practice and is listed as the lawyer and owner of Jacob Litigation from 2013 onward.
Over the course of his career Jacob has gained admission to several federal and state jurisdictions. He is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and before the U.S. Courts for the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of Pennsylvania, as well as the Northern District of Illinois, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. His court admissions allow him to pursue litigation across multiple forums.
He is active in the American Association for Justice. He has been a member since 2013 and joined the executive board of the Civil Rights Section in 2014. That involvement places him among practitioners who prioritize trial skills and civil-rights advocacy within a national bar association.
Colleagues and clients describe Jacob as pragmatic in his courtroom approach. He draws on years of public-service experience when assessing liability and damages, and he applies that perspective to motions practice and trial preparation. He continues to handle civil litigation matters through his firm, Jacob Litigation. His practice centers on civil litigation and civil rights matters.
