About Delmar D Weldon

Delmar D Weldon III combined a business undergraduate education with a later law degree. He earned a B.S. in business from Indiana University Bloomington and a J.D. from Salmon P. Chase College of Law at Northern Kentucky University. That academic grounding set the stage for a career spent largely in courtrooms and classrooms.

Early on he gained practical exposure inside prosecutors’ offices and public-interest clinics. As a licensed legal intern he worked in 2006 at the Dearborn-Ohio County Prosecuting Lawyer’s Office. He then served as a student lawyer in 2007 with the Ohio Justice and Policy Center. Those roles gave him hands-on experience on both sides of criminal matters and introduced him to trial work at a formative stage.

After law school he joined Zerbe Garner Miller & Blondell, LLP as a lawyer in 2008. He handled litigation matters there and built a practice grounded in jury trial preparation and courtroom procedure. The next years blended private practice with teaching and coaching. In 2010 he accepted an adjunct post teaching criminal justice at Ivy Tech College. He added trial coaching responsibilities in 2013 at Northern Kentucky University, mentoring law students on advocacy and courtroom technique.

Weldon moved into firm leadership in 2019 when he became a partner at Pillar Law Group, LLP. The promotion marked a shift toward managing cases and developing trial teams while continuing to try cases himself. His memberships in the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, both begun in 2014, reflect his professional interests and the collegial networks he uses for case strategy and continuing education.

He is admitted to practice in Indiana and before the Supreme Court of Indiana. Those admissions have supported a practice that emphasizes litigation and courtroom representation. His background on both the prosecution and defense sides informs how he evaluates evidence and prepares for trial.

Colleagues describe him as a practitioner who spends much of his time preparing witnesses, drafting motions, and arguing in front of judges and juries. He has combined teaching and coaching roles with litigation responsibilities, often guiding younger attorneys and law students through the mechanics of trial work.

He currently practices at Pillar Law Group, LLP, where he focuses on criminal defense and trial litigation in Indiana.
