About Debra Ann

Debra Ann Whitson is the founder and managing attorney at WhitsonLaw, PLLC, a family law firm with offices in Elizabethtown and Saratoga Springs, New York. She has been practicing law for over 30 years, specializing in divorce and family law matters. She graduated summa cum laude from Cornell University in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies.

She earned her Juris Doctor magna cum laude from the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University in 1994. Before founding WhitsonLaw, PLLC in 2009, she served as the Chief Special Victims Prosecutor for the Essex County District Attorney's Office from 1994 to 2005. She also worked as a staff attorney at the New York Prosecutors Training Institute from 2006 to 2007.

In addition to her legal practice, she is the author of "Divorce Like A Pro: A Better Way To Break Up," a practical guide to navigating divorce with dignity. She is a member of the New York State Bar Association and has been recognized for her work with victims of domestic violence. She resides in the Adirondacks, where she continues to serve her community and advance initiatives that promote justice and the well-being of families.
