About DeAnne
DeAnne Parker built a career that bridges corporate tax work and estate law. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Pepperdine University in 1986, then returned to school a decade later and received her J.D. from The University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law in 1997.
Her early professional life began in accounting and international tax. In 1986 she joined Arthur Andersen & Company as an international tax associate. That role led to in-house work at BHP Minerals Inc., where she served as an international tax planner in 1992. Those positions kept her close to cross-border tax issues and corporate compliance.
After law school she clerked for the Honorable Wade Brorby on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit in 1997. The clerkship exposed her to appellate practice and federal litigation drafting. She then moved into the private sector as a tax lawyer at Ernst & Young in 1998. Two years later she shifted to a traditional law firm role as an associate at Wells Small Selke & Graham in 2000.
Over time Parker combined her tax background with probate and trust matters. She is certified by the California State Bar as a Legal Specialist in Estate Planning, Trusts, and Probate Law. That credential reflects a pivot from pure tax practice toward the legal mechanics of estates and wealth transfer. Her training in accounting and years handling tax planning inform her approach to estate documentation and trust administration.
Colleagues describe her work as methodical. She has experience drafting complex estate plans that address both federal tax considerations and state probate issues. The mix of in-house corporate roles, big accounting firm tax practice, a federal clerkship, and law firm experience gives her a broad perspective on client needs in this area.
Parker is licensed to practice in California and has built her practice around issues where tax and estate law intersect. Her background includes advising on tax consequences in estate settlements and structuring trusts to meet fiscal and family goals. She continues to handle estate planning, trust administration, probate matters, and related tax issues in California, concentrating on estate planning, trusts, probate, and tax matters.
