About Dean E.
Dean E. Patrick graduated law school in 2001 after an earlier career of scientific study. He earned his J.D. from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law and holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Computer Science from Central Michigan University, completed in 1993. Those two degrees sit side by side in his background and shape how he approaches legal problems: one part legal training, one part technical analysis.
After finishing law school, Patrick became active in the Michigan legal community. He has been a member of the State Bar of Michigan since 2004. Over the years he has maintained that membership while building a practice in the state. He also pursued continuing legal education in estate matters and earned certification through the Institute of Continuing Legal Education in Estate Planning & Probate.
Patrick’s undergraduate studies in biology and computer science give him an unusual combination for a lawyer. The scientific training brought an attention to detail. The computer science work encouraged logical structuring of complex material. Both traits turn up in files that require careful document drafting and clear organization of assets and records.
In practice he has concentrated on estate planning and probate-related work. That includes drafting wills and trusts, advising on estate administration, and assisting families through probate proceedings. He counsels clients on elder law-related issues when they intersect with estate and probate matters. He has emphasized steady, methodical handling of paperwork and deadlines, which clients cite as practical benefits in complicated estates.
Patrick works out of Patrick & Associates, PLLC. He has kept his continuing education current and remains active in bar activities in Michigan. He has not been characterized by high-profile litigation or public-facing appointments in the material provided; instead his work has tended toward client counseling, document preparation, and estate administration behind the scenes.
Outside of legal credentials, his dual background in science and computing makes him comfortable with detailed record review and some technical aspects of modern estate planning. He balances those skills with a straightforward, procedural approach to probate tasks and trust administration. He currently practices at Patrick & Associates, PLLC, where his work centers on estate planning and probate matters.
