About David
David Wendlinger earned his law degree from Valparaiso University School of Law in 2002 after completing a B.B.A. in International Business and Economics at Northwood University in 1999. The academic sequence introduced him to transactional work and the regulatory side of business. Those early interests show up repeatedly in the positions he took after graduation.
He began his legal career in 2003 at LaSalle Business Credit, where he counseled on commercial lending matters and credit-related transactions. In 2006 he moved into underwriting work at Fidelity National Financial. That role kept him on the corporate and insurance-adjacent side of the law, handling title and underwriting issues for a national firm.
In 2009 Wendlinger shifted gears and served as a deputy prosecutor in the Lake County Prosecutor's Office. The prosecutorial post added courtroom experience and work on criminal filings and case preparation. It also gave him a closer look at local court procedures and the practical demands of trial-ready litigation.
By 2011 he joined Funk & Wendlinger, LLC as a lawyer. He has maintained a private practice presence since then. He holds memberships in the Indiana State Bar and the Lake County Bar Association, the latter since 2010. His professional path crosses both public and private sectors. That mix informs how he approaches client matters and risk assessment.
Wendlinger is licensed to practice in Illinois and Indiana. He has handled matters that draw on his background in commercial lending, underwriting, and public prosecution. Colleagues describe him as pragmatic in his approach to problem solving and direct in his communication. He balances transactional detail work with experience in court filings and hearings.
Today he practices from Funk & Wendlinger, LLC, advising clients on issues that span commercial and regulatory concerns across Illinois and Indiana. His current work centers on client counseling, transactional review, and representation in state-level matters in both jurisdictions.
