About David W.

David W. Barlow earned his law degree from Washburn University School of Law in 2003. He was active in law school. He served as student editor-in-chief for the Family Law Quarterly, a publication of the American Bar Association, during the 2004–2005 academic year. He also led the Washburn chapter of the J. Reuben Clark Law Society as president from 2004 to 2005.

His early legal work included service as a legal assistant to the U.S. Air Force Judge Advocate General’s office in 2004. The following year he clerked for Chief District Judge Gary Nafziger of the Second Judicial District of Kansas. Those roles gave him exposure to both military legal procedures and the workings of a trial court.

Barlow later relocated to Hawaii, where he maintains an office in downtown Honolulu. He sits on the Board of Governors of the Hawaii Association for Justice and holds membership in the Hawaii State Bar Association. He has also served as an arbitrator for the Hawaii State Court Annexed Arbitration Program. Those positions reflect steady involvement in the state’s legal community and in court-connected dispute resolution.

Colleagues describe his institutional commitments through roles on professional boards and in court-annexed programs. Serving on the Board of Governors requires attention to policy, member services and the practical needs of litigators across the state. As an arbitrator, he oversees hearings intended to resolve civil claims efficiently, issuing decisions that help parties close contested matters without prolonged litigation.

Barlow’s background combines academic editing, appellate-adjacent clerkship work and hands-on legal assistance in a military context. That mix informs how he approaches cases and professional obligations. He has moved through different legal settings but kept a focus on practice in the state courts and on roles that shape how lawyers work together.

He continues to practice from his downtown Honolulu office and remains active in local bar activities. His current practice centers on litigation and arbitration in Hawaii courts.
