G. David Smith is a founding partner of Smith & Lee, Lawyers P.C., located in Rockwall, Texas. He earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Texas at the Permian Basin in 1978 and his Juris Doctor from Texas Tech University School of Law in 1983. He was admitted to the State Bar of Texas on June 17, 1983. Since 1990, Mr.
Smith has been board-certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. His practice focuses on personal injury cases, including gas explosions, defective products, auto accidents, motorcycle injuries, truck accidents, premises defects, and oil field accidents. In 2025, he was elected president-elect of the State Bar of Texas, with his term as president set to begin in June 2026. He has served on the State Bar of Texas Board of Directors from 2021 to 2024, representing District 1. Mr.
Smith has been recognized as a Texas Super Lawyer for multiple years, including 2009, 2010, and 2011. He is a sustaining life fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and a member of the Texas Bar College. He has served as president of the Rockwall County Bar Association and is currently on its board of directors. He also serves on the board of directors for the Rockwall Housing Development Corporation, which provides affordable housing and assistance toward home ownership in a six-county area. Mr.
Smith and his wife, Diane, have four grown children, two daughters-in-law, four grandchildren. A dog named Boudreaux. They enjoy spending time with family at their lake house on Lake Athens and are classic car enthusiasts.
