About David Sheridan

David Sheridan Waltzer built his academic foundation in public affairs and the law. He earned a Master of Public Administration from Baruch College in 1996. He completed his legal training at Rutgers School of Law–Newark in 1999, where his studies emphasized bankruptcy law. Those years shaped the practical trajectory of his career.

After law school he moved into bankruptcy practice. By 2003 he had joined both the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys and the New Jersey Bar. He remains a member of those organizations and has maintained a professional presence in the New York legal community. His practice has developed through courtroom work, client counseling and routine appearances in bankruptcy filings.

Over time, Waltzer’s work has concentrated on consumer bankruptcy matters. He represents individuals in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 proceedings and handles related contested matters that arise in those cases. His background in public administration informs how he organizes case strategy and communicates complex financial options to clients. He is comfortable explaining alternatives to bankruptcy and guiding clients through procedural steps when protection under the Bankruptcy Code is the chosen path.

He maintains offices in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Westchester County. That geographic spread lets him serve clients across different parts of the region and appear in several district and local courts when necessary. He is licensed to practice in New York and his ongoing membership in the New Jersey Bar indicates professional ties beyond a single state.

Colleagues and clients describe his day-to-day work as practical and methodical. He prepares routine petitions and claims, negotiates with creditors and represents debtors at hearings. He also works on plan confirmations and objections when cases move beyond initial filing. The work requires clarity about statute and rule, and patience handling paperwork and negotiation. Those are recurring demands in his caseload.

Waltzer’s career path — from an MPA to a J.D. focused on bankruptcy — has produced a practice shaped by legal procedure and client counseling. He continues to participate in national and state bankruptcy groups and keeps an active presence across New York’s courts. He currently concentrates his practice on consumer bankruptcy and related debtor representation.
