About David Rick

David Rick Nelson earned his law degree from the University of the Pacific’s McGeorge School of Law. He arrived in the profession at a time when California’s courts and regulatory landscape were changing, and he began building a steady practice shaped by that environment. He pursued the practical side of legal training and carried those lessons into daily work for clients across the state.

Early in his career he concentrated on learning how California courts operate. He handled matters that required both courtroom presence and careful preparation. He learned to draft pleadings, manage discovery, and prepare witnesses. Over time he added transactional work and client counseling to his routine. He has worked for individuals and businesses, helping them resolve disputes and fulfill legal obligations.

Nelson’s practice has involved litigation and negotiated resolutions. He has appeared in state proceedings and taken part in settlement talks. He pays attention to procedural detail and the deadlines that shape a case. That discipline guides how he organizes files, prepares evidence, and communicates with clients. He adjusts strategy when facts change and when courts set new directions.

Colleagues describe him as thorough in case preparation and pragmatic at the conference table. He balances courtroom readiness with an eye toward outcomes that serve client interests. He has handled matters that require written advocacy as much as oral argument. His work often involves weighing the costs of litigation against the benefits of a negotiated resolution.

Outside of client work he has kept ties to legal education and local professional networks. He has attended continuing legal education programs offered by bar groups and law schools, staying current on changes in procedure and statutory developments. That ongoing study feeds into how he prepares for trials and advises clients on compliance and risk management.

Today he practices law in California. His current work centers on representing clients in state matters and providing legal counsel tailored to the needs of individuals and organizations operating in California.
