About David R.
David R. Parry earned his J.D. from Stetson University College of Law in 1981 after completing a B.A. in political science at Florida Southern College in 1977. He moved into public defense work early in his career and by 1985 was serving as Chief Assistant Public Defender in Pinellas County. That period established his courtroom practice and gave him substantial trial experience in criminal matters.
He became Board Certified as a Criminal Trial Lawyer by the Florida Bar Association in 1994, a status he has maintained since. Board certification is a milestone that marked a transition from public service to a more visible role in private practice. In 1998 he joined the firm that became Bauer Crider & Parry as a partner. His name has been attached to the firm for decades as he handled serious criminal cases in state and federal courts.
Parry is admitted to practice in Florida, the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, and the U.S. Supreme Court. He has tried cases at trial level and handled appeals, relying on courtroom experience developed over many years. He has stayed active in professional organizations tied to criminal defense, including long-term memberships in the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers since 1998. He has also belonged to the Pinellas County Trial Lawyers Association and the Pinellas County Criminal Defense Association for many years.
His involvement in bar work has included editorial duties and committee leadership. He served as an editor for the Florida Bar Association from 1997 to 2007. He chaired the Florida Bar Association Board Certification Committee for Criminal Trial & Appellate Practice from 1998 to 2000. Those roles kept him engaged with standards for criminal trial practice and certification in the state.
Parry contributed to legal education as a lecturer at Stetson University College of Law from 1994 to 1997, and he participated in public defender association continuing legal education events such as the “Life Over Death” conference from 1990 through 2008. He has balanced trial work, appellate matters and involvement in the legal community throughout his career.
He has practiced under the Bauer Crider & Parry, P.A. banner in his later career and continues to handle criminal defense matters. His current practice centers on criminal defense in state and federal courts.
