About David R.

David R. Clark earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Alabama School of Law in 2000. He completed the traditional three-year law program and entered practice at the turn of the century. The degree placed him among a steady stream of lawyers trained in Alabama’s legal traditions.

Early in his career Clark built a practice that crossed several areas of law. He holds admission to practice in Alabama and in multiple federal jurisdictions, including the Northern, Middle and Southern Districts of Alabama, the 11th Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. Those admissions have allowed him to take on both trial and federal court matters over the years.

Clark’s professional affiliations reflect the range of cases he has handled. He was listed among The National Trial Lawyers Top 100 in 2014. He was a member of the Alabama Criminal Defense Lawyers Association from 2008 through 2014. He belonged to the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Lawyers from 2011 to 2014, and he was part of the American Immigration Lawyers Association between 2013 and 2014. Those memberships indicate periods of active involvement in criminal defense, consumer bankruptcy, and immigration issues.

In court he has been involved in contested hearings and litigation at both state and federal levels. He has navigated trial dockets in district courts and maintained credentials to appear before appellate bodies. His practice history includes representation of clients in criminal matters, bankruptcy proceedings, and immigration-related cases. He has handled pretrial motions, contested evidentiary issues, and procedural matters in bankruptcy and immigration forums.

Peers and opposing counsel have encountered him primarily as a litigator. He participated in trial preparation and courtroom advocacy during the span of his practice that included the memberships listed above. The recognition from a trial lawyer organization in 2014 reflects participation in jury and bench trial work during that period.

Clark balances courtroom work with the administrative demands of federal practice, including docket management in multiple districts and filings before the 11th Circuit. He has maintained practice credentials that allow him to file and respond to matters across state and federal systems. He currently handles matters in criminal defense, consumer bankruptcy, and immigration.
