About David

David Miklas earned his law degree from the University of Florida in 1998. He entered the profession at a time when employment law was gaining prominence. That timing shaped much of his early career and the subjects he would return to repeatedly.

He took a partnership role at Richeson & Coke, P.A. in 1998. That post placed him in the middle of civil litigation and workplace disputes. He later established the Law Office of David Miklas, P.A., practicing out of Vero Beach. His practice has run through private firm partnership and solo practice, giving him a view of litigation from several angles.

Miklas is licensed in Florida and is admitted to appear before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. His courtroom experience includes both trial and appellate matters. Over the years he has balanced courtroom work with writing and committee service.

He has written for and co-authored LexisNexis Expert Commentaries since 2007. Those contributions reflect an ongoing attention to legal analysis and practical guidance. Peers have also recognized him through Florida Super Lawyers’ Rising Stars program, a designation he has held since 2009. His involvement in professional organizations includes practical committee work as well as public-facing commentary.

Within the local bar, Miklas served as co-chair of the Martin County Bar’s Labor & Employment Law Committee from 2018 to 2020. He also took part in the Florida Bar’s Labor & Employment Law Section as a member of the Wage and Hour Administration Liaison subcommittee from 2013 to 2016. Those roles allowed him to work on issues around wage and hour administration and to engage on procedural and policy questions affecting practitioners.

Colleagues describe him as methodical in preparing cases and willing to engage on nuanced points of wage and hour law. Outside of committee calendars and appellate dockets, he has continued to contribute written analysis for legal reference services.

Today he maintains the Law Office of David Miklas, P.A. in Vero Beach. He handles matters that arise from employment relationships, focusing on wage and hour questions and related litigation, and continues to write and serve on professional panels when opportunities arise.

He maintains an active practice in Florida and accepts matters that may involve appellate work before the Eleventh Circuit.
