About David
David Marquardt earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Richmond in 2001 and a Juris Doctor from the University of Miami School of Law in 2004. He came of age academically at two universities that emphasize small-group work and practical legal training. Those formative years led directly into a career in private practice spanning multiple roles and multiple jurisdictions.
He began practicing in roles that brought him steadily more responsibility. In 2011 he worked as an attorney at Duff Law Office, P.C., where he handled client matters and helped manage day-to-day casework. By 2016 he was a partner at Duff, Kronfeld & Marquardt, P.C., a role that added firm management and strategic decision-making to his portfolio. In 2018 he took two steps: he joined Mirsky Law Group, LLC as of counsel and he founded Wayside Legal LLC as owner and lawyer. Those moves shifted him from firm partnership into a mix of advisory and solo-practice work.
Marquardt is licensed to practice in Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia. He maintains active involvement in the bar community. He holds membership in the Maryland State Bar Association and the Bar Association of Montgomery County, and he is a member of the Fairfax Bar Association and the American Inns of Court. He is also a Fellow of the MSBA Leadership Academy. Those affiliations reflect an ongoing engagement with professional education and collegial exchange among lawyers across the region.
Across his various positions he has handled the kinds of legal work common to regional private practice: counseling clients, managing litigation files, coordinating with opposing counsel and court staff, and running aspects of a small firm. His background includes experience as a firm partner and as in-house counsel to other lawyers, which gives him a practical sense of both client-facing work and the administrative demands of running a practice. Colleagues describe him as methodical and straightforward; clients encounter a lawyer who moves deliberately through problems and explains next steps in plain language.
He balances courtroom and office responsibilities depending on the matter at hand. That flexibility has defined his transition to Wayside Legal LLC. He currently practices at Wayside Legal LLC, representing clients in Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia.
